I heard of someone who paid a hacker to hack his own account by brute force to retrieve USD5m. Lost his pass phrase and took 6 months until he had that Eureka moment to remember part of the pass phrase and managed to push through 😂
And now that BAKKT is launching, it is critical that IOST is visible to the investor class in North America and Europe. IOST needs to be marketing itself on 3 fronts: developers, investor class and users. All feed of each other. IOST management needs to do a better job in North America and Europe. The emphasis beyond Asia needs to happen in my opinion and they can’t rely solely on nodes to do that. The unanswered questions: Why is IOST not having annual developer conference? ( we can understand this year, but a must 2020 preferably mainnet anniversary, hype or build a crescendo leading to the conference)Why are they not participating big blockchain conferences? Why is Jimmy so autonomous after been the face of IOST in 2018? What segment of the blockchain market is IOST targeting/specializing near short/medium/long term? Why haven’t they announced any enterprise collaboration ( major competitors do.. even ZIL has a major insurance company demonstrating a potential long term network enterprise user case)that could be the launch pad of IOST network? In my opinion absence of a major enterprise collaboration that could crystallize in investor’s eye the potential of network is dampening IOST price (build and they will come isn’t enough for current price). So many questions unanswered on the technical side too ( onblock, Emogi.. are they built on IOST, what layer of IOST, as sidechain??). The positive thing going for IOST now generating positive coverage in the space is the “generous staking rewards”. My opinion from an investor’s perspectives...if price doesn’t pick up,staking rewards won’t be enough to sustain investors confidence or IOST won’t be seen attractive ( who wants to hold a shit load of tokens that’s in the fraction pennies?)Where is Dark lately? All are welcome to agree to disagree. Personally my believe in IOST is huge but I’m trying to biggybag my own and others ??
Annual dev conference: yeah we haven’t done it yet but it’s an interesting idea to do for mainnet anniversary and I will ask the team if it’s doable. Location though, have to think. Any in mind? 🤔 possibly a roadshow across different regions?
We do participate in big blockchain conferences, Jimmy and the cofounders fly around to attend them and I’ll be at Consensus Singapore next week, just that we don’t pay to speak or do exhibitions as the costs are prohibitive, easily 20-30k for one event and this can rack up pretty quickly if we are not careful.
Jimmy has been focused on institutional level activities - some things being done from investors side (staking by big players) and enterprise (govt level deals) are personally led by Jimmy. Most of the daily execution work being done now are by the execution team as it rightly should be.
Launching applications and projects that are consumer facing and can bring in large number of users into the IOST ecosystem is our priority, as well as staking to lock down long term investor commitments.
We do already have enterprise use cases in areas such as traceability, aerospace etc. These usually have long cycles so don’t expect it every month, but we are working with a number of enterprises and should have something coming soon ;)
The harsh reality is that many "useless" alt coin projects will disappear or abandoned and is not a new phenomenon since it's been ongoing for the past decade. Just look at a list of top 50 coins every 3 years and many names are unrecognizable.Having said that, in this next cycle, the coins with both strong community support and adoption along with real world dapps and use cases that survive will not only tread water but thrive significantly with the rising tide.No prediction for IOST but personally I feel it will be one of the survivors. Any dev that somehow discovers IOST always seem to leave the impression that it is a dream to code on (relatively speaking) and with decently quick execution speed too.
Haha there are some that we can’t wait to announce but big deals are always complex. We had one that fell through right towards the end, but the rest are all looking pretty good and likely we can have some announcements before this year closes 😄
Dunno if you've watched this but Q made a valid point and I hope the team will look into it too, its on the area of organising a world hackathon for developer to build on IOST more like Binance hackathon too. This will help draw more attention to iost from the public @lawrencelhz
The sharp price volatility used to bother me a bit earlier on. But at least with IOST you receive voting rewards and you can re-invest it essentially compounding returns that lessens the downward price blow somewhat relative to other some other coins. So now I am not fixated as much on a declining fiat dollar value and more focused on growing a bag of IOST coins instead.
I certainly hope so as well. Ziliqa was at one point almost double the price of IOST, now it is less or almost the same as it, so IOST hasn't performed as badly as it could have. BTC dominance being close to 70% means all the alts are suffering, and badly...not that that's much of a consolation though 😐
